Cheesemarket in Alkmaar
At the cheese market, you will see how cheeses are traded according to age-old traditions. From setting and judging the cheeses to price negotiations and weighing them.
Around the market, there are many stalls selling Dutch delicacies like poffertjes, herring, stroopwafel. Of course, you will also find all kinds of cheeses in various sizes and flavours.
The cheese market is a free event that takes place every Friday until 26 September.
Climbing the Jan van Speijk lighthouse in Egmond aan Zee
Every Friday evening in July and August, you can climb the 28m-high Egmond Lighthouse. The lighthouse is over 175 years old and named after one of the greatest sea heroes in history.
Admission is €4 for adults and €2 for children.

at the foot of the sea dyke and the Hondsbossche dunes. The location offers a beautiful view of the Harger and Pettemer polder nature reserve.

Captain Rommel's Garden, not just any Garden, but one brimming with all kinds of recreational, cultural and educational activities.
The Fairy Tale Garden offers old-fashioned fun activities such as the boat ride, scavenger hunt, encounters with Pinocchio and the sleeping giant. The water lilies with dancing fairies are back, and this year you can also search for Snow White.
Central to this oasis of calm is the meeting of people, but also walking around and enjoying everything that grows and blossoms. And all this while enjoying a nice cup of coffee and herbal tea from the garden.
Highly recommended for the start of the summer holidays from 12 to 17 July 2025.
Entrance is €6- for children with limo and sweets, adults are free.
