Gnome trail in Schoorl
Did you know that gnomes live in the Schoorlse Duinen? At least, that's what we think, because you can see gnome tracks everywhere. Small footprints in the sand, wheel tracks from a wheelbarrow, flattened grass from an afternoon nap. And you sometimes see a gnome turd lying around. Really! If you walk the Gnome Path, you'll find out for yourself...
The Gnome Trail starts at Buitencentrum Schoorlse Duinen. Wearing a pointed hat, you walk a 1 kilometer route together with your parents or grandparents. Along the way you will listen to a story from the Gnome Folder and do gnome tasks. Along the way, look for the next gnome post for the correct route.
As a souvenir, you will make your own nature painting, which you can put up or hang at home. Afterwards you can take the backpack and the materials home. Fun isn't it?
€ 6.50 per child (adults free) incl. pointy hat.
Duration 1 hour (1 km). Participation is possible every day of the week.

Alkmaar Ice Square at skating rink De Meent
Bring your own sledge and enjoy the games on the ice! From curling and ice biking to a game of ice hockey, basketball or practising skating with a skating aid, there is something different to do every day. Who knows, you might even meet Freddy Fit during a meet & greet!
Afterwards, you can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream in the café, for that ultimate winter sports feeling close to home. The Alkmaars IJsplein is perfect for families who want to have an afternoon of fun together!

Code S.T.O.R.M. - Schoorlse Dunes
Are you a real nature hero and can you find out the secret code to turn on the weather machine in time to save nature and all animals? That's the assignment at Code S.T.O.R.M, a unique experience at Buitencentrum Schoorlse Duinen (Oorsprongweg 1, Schoorl).
The game lasts about 90 minutes during which you walk 2 kilometres in a wooded area.
In between, you complete various escape room tasks that are +/- 500 metres apart.
Participation is possible every day between 10:00 and 15:00.

Keukenhof is a park, also known as the flower garden of Europe, located in Lisse.
It is open every spring from March to May when the many colourful flower bulbs are in full bloom.
Open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from 19 March to 10 May 2026.

Disco Swiming in swimmingpool De Beeck Bergen
Every Friday evening, there is disco swimming at De Beeck swimming pool. These evenings are great fun, with music, mood lighting and lots of toys in the pool. Both pools are available for this disco evening for extra swimming fun!
It is for all children up to 13 years of age with a swimming certificate A.

Open Day Bunker Egmond
Bunkerdorp on Hoeverweg in Egmond aan den Hoef offers a unique opportunity to discover World War II bunkers. Scattered through the dunes are 13 bunkers, once part of the German Atlantic Wall. They were part of the defence of Bergen airfield and served as anti-aircraft defences. Thanks to volunteers, this heritage remains preserved and accessible.
Follow the route past bunkers with original sleeping quarters, ammunition storage and a canteen. Some are accessible to visitors.
Located opposite Hoeverweg 27 in Egmond aan de Hoef.
Only accessible on foot or by bicycle, no parking available.
Free for children up to 6 years old (groups 1 and 2)
€2.50 for children aged 6 to 12 (groups 3 to 8)
€5.00 for visitors aged 13 and older

National Shell Counting Day 2026 in Bergen aan Zee en Schoorl
Would you like to join us in counting shells? Whether you are a true shell connoisseur or setting foot on the beach for the first time, everyone can participate! Go to the tide line and collect 100 shells, sorting them by type. You can write down how many you have found on the shell counting card. The card can be picked up at the reception or at the counting location on or near the beach in Bergen and Schoorl.
So bring a bag and come and enjoy counting shells with the whole family.

Crack the Alkmaar Code - Scavenger Hunt Walking Route
Crack the Code is a fun, interactive treasure hunt through the historic city centre, specially designed to introduce children and adults to the history and secrets of Alkmaar in a playful way. Using questions and clues, you crack a secret code to discover the city.
What colour is the cheese master's hat? Can you decipher the Roman numerals on that monument? And what is that cannonball doing on the wall? Are you a real detective and can you crack the Alkmaar Code?
This treasure hunt starts at the Waaggebouw (VVV Alkmaar), is approximately 2 kilometres long and is available via the VVV Webshop or at VVV Alkmaar itself.

Cheesemarket in Alkmaar
At the cheese market, you will see how cheeses are traded according to age-old traditions. From setting and judging the cheeses to price negotiations and weighing them.
Around the market, there are many stalls selling Dutch delicacies like poffertjes, herring, stroopwafel. Of course, you will also find all kinds of cheeses in various sizes and flavours.
The cheese market is a free event that takes place every Friday from the last Friday in March to the last Friday in September.
In July and August, there is a special evening market on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Fairy door walk Schoorlse Duinen
Why not come to the Schoorlse Duinen to visit the elves? They live here in the woods and dunes. They love to play with the animals, but the elves rarely show themselves. That's why the forest ranger has created a special elf door route to introduce you to the animals and their elf friends.
The Elf Door Route starts at the Schoorlse Duinen Outdoor Centre.
There you will find a bag waiting for you with yes a real magic wand.
Take that bag with you on your journey. Follow the green route markers and discover the elves' doors. Each elf door has a task for the children.
After each task, you can cast a spell and take the animal that goes with it.
At the end, the children celebrate the feast of the seasons together with the animals.
You can take the magnifying glass home with you afterwards.
€8.50 per bag (adults free) incl. 1 magic wand.
Duration: 1 hour (1 km). Participation is possible every day during opening hours.
