The Alkmaar cheese market is the oldest and largest in the Netherlands. Since 1365, Alkmaar has owned one cheese scale; by 1612, the city had as many as four cheese scales. The Waagplein, where the cheese market has taken place since the beginning, has also been enlarged several times.
Every year you can witness the cheese market in the period from the last Friday in March to the last Friday in September every Friday between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Waagplein. You can also visit the evening cheese market on Tuesday evenings in July and August between 19:00 and 21:00.

A market with remarkable businesses and inspiring products.
Enjoy the sea, the space and great stallholders with inspiring products at the very pleasant Roots Market on the boulevard in Egmond aan Zee.
There are no stalls at this market because the weather proved unpredictable. This created a contemporary market with creative ground stalls, lovingly called hippie market by visitors.
The market is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and free of charge.

A boot market is a kind of flea market where people with fully loaded cars and vans sell their fun and beautiful second-hand stuff.
The stuff is displayed on a rug or on a table you have brought yourself.
Tools, toys, clothes, all kinds of kitchen utensils, bicycles, books, antiques and curiosities.
Where: The field at Sportlaan 7, 1871 EP Schoorl
The field is sandy ground and can be entered by car and on foot even in bad weather. So the market always takes place, with the exception of code red.
Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Full moon walk Schoorl Dunes
Join us on an exciting walk in the dark through the Schoorlse Duinen, in the atmosphere of the full moon. Along the way, you will receive explanations about nature and the starry sky from guides from Staatsbosbeheer and Metius, the Alkmaar Weather and Astronomy Association. Together, you will wander over uneven forest paths and over dunes, where the traces of the fire from 2009 can still be seen. The weather can be beautifully clear, with plenty of moonlight, but there can also be cloud cover or a heavy rain sky. In any case, the walk always goes ahead.

Culinary Summer Event Schoorl
Where the dunes run into the village and hospitality is a given, at the bottom of the iconic Klimduin, we will celebrate the Summer Festival on 12 July in a place that is unique nowhere else. The centre has been renovated and is fully open again, which of course will not go unnoticed.
During the Summer Festival, we invite you to the Culinary Summer Event - a culinary trip along restaurants and shops. In Schoorl - where the dunes run into the village and hospitality is a given, we will make it an unforgettable day on 12 July. At the bottom of the iconic Klimduin, we will then celebrate the Summer Festival, in a place that is unique nowhere else. The renewed centre shines like never before and we will not let that go unnoticed. The entrepreneurs of Schoorl will lay out the green carpet for you and give you a warm welcome.
Expect live music on a special stage by among others; Kim de Boer, Dick Raat and other singer-songwriters, sporting challenges and a delicious culinary route. For children, there is plenty to do from face painting, crafts and puppet theatre to the exciting Fox Hunt, where they follow in the footsteps of Teun de Jager and search for the animals from the dunes. Tree Bike Tour
Cycle along the centuries-old trees of the Schoorlse Duinen! The Schoorlse Duinen are the highest dunes in the Netherlands. Long ago, there was a large drifting mass of sand here. In order to capture that mass of sand, Staatsbosbeheer started planting trees on a large scale 125 years ago. However, there were already trees in the dunes. You will see a number of those old, thick and special trees during this bike ride. For example, you will visit the 120-year-old Corsican pine with an impressive circumference of 3.22 meters. There are also many bizarrely shaped oaks in the Schoorlse Duinen. Under the influence of the extreme conditions, they have become true works of art of nature.

The Alkmaar cheese market is the oldest and largest in the Netherlands. Since 1365, Alkmaar has owned one cheese scale; by 1612, the city had as many as four cheese scales. The Waagplein, where the cheese market has taken place since the beginning, has also been enlarged several times.
Every year you can witness the cheese market in the period from the last Friday in March to the last Friday in September every Friday between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Waagplein. You can also visit the evening cheese market on Tuesday evenings in July and August between 19:00 and 21:00.

Roots Market Egmond aan Zee
A market with remarkable businesses and inspiring products.
Enjoy the sea, the space and great stallholders with inspiring products at the very pleasant Roots Market on the boulevard in Egmond aan Zee.
There are no stalls at this market because the weather proved unpredictable. This created a contemporary market with creative ground stalls, lovingly called hippie market by visitors.
The market is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and free of charge.

A boot market is a kind of flea market where people with fully loaded cars and vans sell their fun and beautiful second-hand stuff.
The stuff is displayed on a rug or on a table you have brought yourself.
Tools, toys, clothes, all kinds of kitchen utensils, bicycles, books, antiques and curiosities.
Where: The field at Sportlaan 7, 1871 EP Schoorl
The field is sandy ground and can be entered by car and on foot even in bad weather. So the market always takes place, with the exception of code red.
