Enkhuizen by Candlelight a charming winter event
From Thursday 11 December to Sunday 4 January, the neighbourhood is transformed into a sparkling backdrop. Streets and houses are beautifully decorated and illuminated, as if you were walking through a living Christmas card seven days a week.
Two special Sundays provide an extra experience:
Sunday 14 December Musical Lights Evening
From the station, you walk via the Drom to the old fishing district of 't Suud. Along the way, you will encounter Santa Claus and other Christmas characters who will get you in the festive spirit. Atmospheric concerts are held in the churches and there is a convivial atmosphere everywhere.
Sunday 21 December Christmas Lights Evening
Once again, you walk from the station along the Drom to 't Suud, where atmospherically dressed characters and Dickens choirs bring the Christmas spirit to life. Residents welcome family, there is a warm atmosphere and spontaneous living room concerts pop up here and there.

Visit the Zuiderzee Museum between 12 December 2025 and 4 January 2026 for the new edition of Zuiderzeelicht. Stroll through the atmospheric illuminated streets of 't Zuiderzeedorp in the evening and discover the exciting story written in the cards for an orphan girl from Hoorn. Presenter Anna Drijver takes you back in time to the year 1725, to the Burgerweeshuis orphanage in Hoorn. Through light, images and sound, the search of the orphan girl Liefje for her father in De heldin van Hoorn (The Heroine of Hoorn) comes to life. Come and be amazed in the dark!
Zuiderzeelicht is open from Friday 12 December 2025 to Sunday 4 January 2026 between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., except on 15, 16, 19, 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January. The walk from the Schathuys via the courtyard garden and through 't Zuiderzeedorp takes about an hour.
Disco swimming
Every Friday evening from 19:30 to 21:00, it's Discotime at the Enkhuizer Strand leisure pool. The pool will be transformed into a musical swimming paradise. Our DJ Julian plays fresh songs by your favourite artists and the flashing disco lights create a cool atmosphere. Your weekend always gets off to a good start with disco swimming!
